Courtfield Gardens

This website has been established to inform residents of the Rules of the Garden; to provide news of forthcoming events and to keep those who enjoy its facilities up to date with the progress of the schedule of garden improvements. It will also provide information regarding the management of the gardens and give notice of the date of the Annual General Meeting, to which all key-holding residents are invited.

The garden square is private and is for the use of the residents only. Access is restricted to registered key-holders. The cost of running the gardens is met through a precept, that is to say a charge levied as part of the council tax and which is set annually at the AGM.

The administration of Courtfield Gardens is delegated to a sub-committee (see the Garden Square Sub-Committee) and is run in accordance with the Kensington Improvement Act 1851.

The Garden contains many old and rare plants and trees. The stately London Plane tree which dominates the garden is one of the oldest plane trees in London. A wide variety of birds, insects and small mammals have made their homes in the garden. In order to increase their number and range we are planning to create a dedicated wildlife area within the existing scheme, which will be managed and protected.

The use of the Garden is governed by its Rules (the Byelaws) which are posted on the notice board, situated inside the gate on the Western side of the gardens. These rules are also to be found on this website. We ask residents to comply with the rules of the garden square at all times.
